Greetings fellow woodworkers - I'm your host at Eagle Lake - John Nixon from Buffalo, New York.

I am a spare-time woodworker with an interest in making American Arts & Crafts style furniture. Located outside Buffalo, New York, I have a basement woodshop that is approximately 440 sq feet; of which I use every inch. Having a small shop forces me to be better organized and to find creative ways of using my space!

I am heavily influenced by the Roycroft style as well as the work of Gustav Stickley (especially the furniture designed by Harvey Ellis).  I've been doing fine woodworking for about Seven years now. Before that, I did carpentry and home remodeling for 10-12 years.

The heart of my efforts are the many instructional videos I've made. I made my first video for the Internet a few years ago when I wanted to show off the Motorized Router Lift. I quickly found that it was a great way to reach a lot of people in a desired format. With the encouragement and support from viewers around the world, I starting making more videos. My approach to woodworking videos is simple - I want to show you how I do things in my shop with as much close-up woodworking action as possible. I like to share my techniques and travels in woodworking with the world. My intent is to continue making project-based woodworking videos for all to enjoy. . . .

Enjoy Eagle Lake Woodworking, and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.

Thanks for stopping by!

The old site was long overdue for a makeover. I started from scratch and tried to build a useful site that woodworker's at all skill levels could get something from.

The new design of the site presents woodworking information in the form of a Project. A Project is just that - a woodworking-related project. You will find that a project may have a video, an article, a picture gallery, or supporting files to download.

Navigating the site is setup up to be straight forward and simple. Use the buttons at the top of this page to browse the projects in a way that interests you. You can use the Projects tab to browse through projects by category. The Videos tab will show you all the projects that have a video. Similarly, the Gallery tab shows you all the projects that have a Picture Gallery. The Q&A tab are answers to woodoworking related questions that I receive via email or through this site.

Thanks for stopping by Eagle Lake, and a special thank you to those of you who have supported the site.

Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think of the new site! Suggestions are welcome as well!

UPDATE 11/22/08 - I'm still working on updating the content in the site - adding descriptions, file downloads, etc.  There will be new content added daily, so check back often.
